Welcome!
Hello and welcome! We are super excited that you found your way to our blog. We are going to use this space to outline our journey to publication and bring you along for the ride! We are also going to go into our process as writers and let you get a sneak peak into what it looks like for us as identical twin co-authors.
First things first, we’re sure that if you’ve gotten to this blog you have a couple of questions about us (because they’re the same questions that we have gotten for years). So let us go ahead and answer them:
Question 1: Are you really identical twins?
-Yep! For an extra fun fact, we were born thirteen minutes apart on a Friday the Thirteenth, which probably makes us the spookiest identical twins you’ll ever meet.
Question 2: Do you like being twins?
-Absolutely! We couldn’t imagine not being twins. We’ve done everything in our lives together so it isn’t a surprise that we decided to become writers together.
Question 3: Can you read each other’s mind?
-We wish we could. But honestly we spend so much time together that it’s like we can read each other’s mind.
Question 4: Who’s older?
-Megan is thirteen minutes older, but Cassie is taller.
Question 5: How do you pronounce your last name?
-A fair question! We like to tell people that you pronounce Siechert like you see someone named Kurt. So Siechert = “see kurt”
Now, onto our writing journey!
The two of us have always been huge readers. Our mom’s threat to us when we were younger was that if we misbehaved she wouldn’t take us to the local library. Our only attempt at writing came in fourth grade when we (along with our older sister) wrote a story that we don’t even remember and submitted it to a Kids Are Authors contest that Scholastic ran. We still have the certificate in a scrapbook at home. Now, we remember nothing about the story we wrote and we don’t even remember the process of us writing it. At the time, it was just a random blip that we moved on from.
So along we went for years, reading and reading everything we could get our hands on. Until…
December 17, 2020 (Yes, we remember the exact date)
We were driving to the craft store to get yarn for a crochet project we were working on. During the drive, Cassie brought up the idea of us writing a book. The moment the idea was brought up, it was never a question of if we’d do it together. It was a question of how we’d do it together.
And over four years later, we’re so glad for that car ride. Because it got us to this point in our lives, where we’re sitting here with a book that we love, working to get published. If you had told our 2020 selves what was coming next, we never would have believed it. At that point, we still had so much work ahead of us. We had to figure out what type of stories we wanted to write, how to juggle being full time college students with our writing, and most importantly, how we would tackle the writing process as twins.
But we figured it out! And we can’t wait to share it all with you.
Until next time,
